Suokylpy, pentueskarin loppu ja mökkikeikka / Bog bath, puppy school finish, and a cottage getaway

Iltahämyä / In the evening gloom
Yöksi mentiin saunatupaan, jossa en olekaan vielä yöpynyt.
Sen verran oli outoa, että hieman täytyi pälyillä / Things were weird enough that I had to keep a sharp lookout.

Pellolla / In the field

and also in English with Gemini:

To spice up Tuesday, I went for a swim in a bog pool during our usual morning walk. It had rained heavily enough that the bog was truly a bog, and the ditch that I usually just hop across had swollen a bit too much for a jump. So, I fell in with a muddy splat, and it took quite a while to claw my way out of the muck while the bipeds stood guard to make sure the operation went smoothly. Luckily, a warm bath was waiting at home 😄 and even being dried off afterward was okay with me (usually I try to rip the towels to shreds).

In the evening, it was time for the final M&M puppy kindergarten class. We headed out with the whole crew, because first we stopped by the store to pick up groceries for our upcoming cottage trip and got a bit of outdoor time. For our puppy class training, we did all kinds of impulse control drills... with pretty good success, so it's a great foundation to build on soon at Koirakoutsi.

As soon as class was over, we zoomed off to the cottage in the evening dark. Piña and her family, along with the Espoo folks, were already there waiting for us... so there was definitely plenty of wild fun in store!

For the night, we went to the sauna cabin, where I haven't actually spent the night before. Settling in was made a lot easier thanks to being allowed to sleep in a big shared bed with the humans and Lauri—though calling it a "bed on the floor" is a bit of a stretch, as it was actually elevated off the ground, just a regular sofa bed.

Then this morning, we went for a walk in the fields. Lucky devil Piña was allowed off her leash and ran circles around me like crazy. But don't worry, we got to rumpus and play together soon enough!

For our afternoon outdoor session, Lauri and I were lucky enough to hit the trail off-leash. Lauri vanished into thin air almost immediately thanks to his supreme speed, even though I was tearing after him tongue out. And thank goodness for that, because a moment later, a couple of dozen meters past us—well, past me and the humans—a bull moose went sprinting by at breakneck speed.

And a moment after that, Lauri went charging right behind the moose at the exact same speed, his belly hair caked in black mud. Calling him back at that point was completely hopeless 😆

Right then and there, I trotted back to the cottage (we were already super close anyway) with Mom right on my heels. Dad stayed behind to wait for Lauri, who checked the spot where the moose originally took off one last time, then made his way back to the cottage and into the lake. He jumped off the dock for a supervised swim to wash off all that mud from his belly...
